McFadyen drops out of race for congressional seat
Pueblo County Commissioner and Democrat Liane “Buffie” McFadyen cited family reasons for her decision to withdraw from the race for the 3rd Congressional District seat.
McFadyen was running against incumbent Republican Congressman Scott Tipton.
Below is a copy of the letter McFadyen sent to Colorado’s Democratic county chairs on Friday (3/14/14) explaining her decision.

Dear County Chairs,
After a great deal of thought and deliberation, I have decided to withdraw from the 3rd Congressional race.
Mydecision was madeafterwatching my son at his lacrosse game Wednesday . Timing, asthe saying goes,is everything. My son is a high school sophomore. After watching his first home game, I realized I’m not prepared to miss his last two years ofhigh school here in Colorado. Time with our children moves much too swiftly and like any mom, I want to spend as much time as possible with my sonover the next two years. At least I am hopeful for as much time as a teenager allows.
With that being said, I still believeaDemocrat needs to represent the independent spirit of the 3rd Congressional District. I will do everything in my power to help us elect a new and effectivecongressman. I look forward to working togetherto take back the 3rd as a dedicated campaign volunteer.
Please feel free to contact me.
Respectfully,
Liane “Buffie” McFadyen
