Assault summons issued at candidate event

The Caon City Police Department has issued the son-in-law of a political candidate a summons for assault following an altercation that took place during a Meet the Candidate event at the Royal Gorge Republican Women’s meeting at Republican Headquarters.

Police say Fremont County coroner candidates Carlette Brocious and Randy Keller were invited to speak at the event.

Keller told authorities that Adam Messer, who is Brocious’ son-in-law came up to him and pushed him into some steps and shelves. Keller was not injured. Police said Messer was issued a summons.

Brocious told the Caon City Daily Record on Thursday she did not see the altercation.

Messer could not be reached for comment on Friday.
