Colorado Springs police are searching for a driver who they said assaulted another driver with his car in a road rage incident.

The two drivers were pulled over on the side of North Academy Boulevard at about 9:00 a.m. when the road rage incident turned violent.

A 30-year-old man got out of his car and approached the driver of a pickup when the pickup driver hit him and drove off.

Police said the injured man was taken to a hospital in Colorado Springs with severe injuries.

Police said the suspect is a white man, possibly in his 30s.

The car was a sky blue or gray-colored pickup, possibly a Toyota Tundra, with an out-of-state license plate.

Police said they believe the pickup has light to moderate damage on its front and passenger side.
