Contest held to reduce peak traffic on I-70
The Colorado Department of Transportation is offering another incentive to keep drivers off Interstate 70 during peak weekend traffic times this ski season.
Officials want travelers to submit creative stories about how they maximized fun in the mountains and minimized time in peak eastbound traffic between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on weekends and holidays. The Peak Time Challenge runs through April 2, and three winners will receive lodging and lift tickets at Copper Mountain, Winter Park or Keystone resorts.
The contest was introduced on Facebook by a Russian character named Oleg, who came to Colorado to escape the congestion at the Winter Olympics, only to find traffic was worse on I-70. Entries can be submitted to the GoI70.com Facebook page and must be tagged #WhatWouldOlegDo?
