Traffic mess on US 24 westbound

Westbound highway 24 slowed to a crawl Tuesday evening because of construction near Manitou Springs and an accident west of Ridge Road.

The Colorado Springs Traffic Center tweeted at 6:22 p.m. that the traffic jam, which stretches more than three miles, is mostly due to road work west of Manitou Springs.

Drivers stuck in traffic are calling KRDO to report that some cars have been stuck in traffic so long that they’re running out of gas.

Another driver posted on our Facebook page that it took an hour and a half to get from the west side of Colorado Springs to cave of the winds.

If you have pictures of the traffic jam up, please e-mail them to krdonews@krdo.com or post them on our Facebook wall. Please drive safely and do not put anyone at risk by trying to take a picture.
