Officials ask for prison director protection
The Colorado Department of Corrections is asking for more than $500,000 for two dedicated security officers for the prison chief and his wife.
According to KMGH-TV, the executive director has been provided around the clock security ever since the March 2013 murder of then-prison chief Tom Clements at his home. Authorities believe Clements was killed by a parolee who took off his monitoring bracelet, tracked Clements down and killed him. The suspect was later killed in a shootout with Texas authorities.
Department officials say the money would be used to continue protection for Rick Raemisch through June 2015.
