Avalanche danger high in Colorado’s mountains

DENVER (AP) – Forecasters are warning of dangerous avalanche conditions across much of Colorado’s high country this weekend as snow continues to fall in the region.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center has issued an avalanche warning for most of the central and northern mountains through midday Monday, saying some slides may be very large and destructive.

Forecasters rate the danger as “high,” which means backcountry travelers should stay clear of all avalanche terrain and avoid traveling on or under steep slopes.
