Freight train derails in Douglas County

A freight train derailment has shut down a highway in Douglas County.

Eighteen cars went off the tracks Thursday in Sedalia but Sgt. Ron Hanavan of the sheriff’s office said no injuries or spills have been reported.

It wasn’t immediately clear what, if anything, the cars were carrying.

Westbound Colorado Highway 67 is closed at U.S. 85 during the response.
