FBI holds rare news conference on bank robbery

The Denver FBI is holding a rare news conference about a bank robbery at a suburban Denver Wells Fargo last week.

Denver FBI Special Agent in Charge Thomas Ravenelle and Westminster Police Department Chief Lee Birk are expected to speak about the robbery Friday morning at FBI headquarters in Denver.

Authorities say two men armed with guns and covered from head-to-toe entered the Wells Fargo in Westminster on Jan. 21 in what the FBI described as a violent bank robbery. New details are expected to be released at the news conference.

The FBI’s initial statement on the robbery said the suspects got a way in a stolen 1992 black Jeep Cherokee that was found near the bank a few hours later.

Wells Fargo is offering a $25,000 reward.
