Purchase of land for veterans cemetery complete

Congressman Scott Tipton says the Department of Veterans Affairs has completed the purchase of land southeast of Colorado Springs for a new national veterans cemetery.

Tipton’s office says the Southern Colorado National Veterans Cemetery will be built on 374 acres known as Rolling Hills. The property is located east of Marksheffel Road between Drennan Road and Bradley Road.

Approximately 95,000 veterans and family members live in southern Colorado. The closest national veterans cemeteries currently are Fort Logan near Denver and Fort Lyon in Las Animas.
