Extra security ordered for Broncos game

Denver police plan to have extra officers on hand inside and outside of the stadium when the Broncos meet the Patriots in the AFC title game Sunday.

Cmdr. Paul Pazen, whose District 1 station encompasses Sports Authority Field at Mile High, tells The Denver Post that officers expect to deal with some problems that naturally arise when more than 76,000 fans pack the stands – and thousands more party in bars and parking lots nearby.

He says officers who patrol the rest of the district will be reminded of the possibility of more domestic disputes and how to calm them.

The increase in officers comes a little more than a month after three people were stabbed in a parking lot at the Broncos’ stadium during a fight over a near fender-bender.
