Woman dead, man injured in Walsenburg shooting

A woman is dead and a man was airlifted to a Pueblo hospital in what police are calling a suspicious death on W. 3rd Street in Walsenburg Thursday morning (1/16/14).

Officers were called to a home in the 300 block of W. 3rd at 7:06 a.m. according to police.

When officers arrived, they found EMS workers loading a man into an ambulance and rushing him to a hospital. A woman was found dead inside the house.

The man was taken to Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center before being airlifted to a hospital in Pueblo then later released.

Late Thursday, police were still interviewing neighbors and family members of the victims. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist.
