Toddler dies in Sterling house fire

A toddler is dead following a house fire in Sterling.

Sterling fire chief Kurt Vogel says firefighters were called Monday night, and when they arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from a bedroom window.

Vogel said when firefighters searched the bedroom they found a two-year-old boy in a closet without a pulse and not breathing.

According to KMGH-TV , the boy’s mother, father and another child escaped the fire. The father suffered burns to his hands.

Authorities have asked the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to help investigate the cause of the fire.
