Colo. officials weigh grants for marijuana research
Colorado health officials want to offer $7.1 million in research grants to examine claims about medical benefits of marijuana.
The Denver Post reported Fridaythe money would come medical marijuana registration fees paid to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
Medical and recreational marijuana are now legal under state law.
Dr. Larry Wolk, director of the health department, says anecdotal reports that a purified form of cannabis helps with seizures have prompted some parents to buy marijuana for their afflicted children.
