Rye triple murder suspect faces 18 felony charges

The suspect in a triple murder in Rye faces 18 felony charges, including counts of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.

Harry Mapps, 59, is accused of killing Kim Tuttle, 55; Reginald Tuttle, 51; and their daughter Dawn Roderick, 33, on Nov. 27.

Mapps facessix counts of first-degree murder, six counts of aggravated robbery, one count of first-degree arson, one count of tampering with physical evidence, two counts of identity theft, and two counts of forgery.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said Mapps cashed two checks totaling $8,000 that belonged to the victims.

Some of the victims’ relatives filed a protective order that prevents them from being directly contacted by the defendant and public defender during the case.

Mapps was arrested Dec. 28 at a motel in Roland, Okla.

Pueblo District Attorney Jeff Chostner has not decided if he will pursue the death penalty against Mapps.
