EB I-70 at Idaho Springs reopened after truck fire

Eastbound Interstate 70 in Idaho Springs is back open but delays are still possible for holiday travelers and skiers headed back to Denver.

The right hand lane was still blocked Thursday afternoon but the other two lanes are open to traffic following a truck crash.

All eastbound lanes near the Twin Tunnels were shut down for about four hours after a truck overturned and caught fire. That backed up traffic and forced drivers to take detours.

KMGH-TV reports the truck was carrying several crushed cars. Idaho Springs Police Chief Dave Wohlers told the station that the driver was going too fast for the curves in the area, causing the load to shift and the truck to roll.
