Missing hiker found alive, well

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says a hiker who was reported missing over the weekend has been found and is alive and well.

The sheriff’s office said Monday morning that Matthew Albonizio, 39, was found in Salida.

Albonizio was dropped off Saturday afternoon at the Sand Gulch area. That’s on the east side of County Road 12 in Cotopaxi, two miles north of Highway 50.

Albonizio was going rock hunting and was supposed to take a few hours, but he never returned to the drop-off location as planned.
