Colorado Springs Street Division preparing for future snowfall

The Colorado Springs Street Division feel it’s going to be a long night after snow and ice were in the city today.

Street Division Worker Jeremy Reichert said snow plows will be out as soon as possible.

“This evening we will be having a full call out from rush hour until 7 pm, but our intention is to have a partial call out until 2 am,” he said.

A full call out consists of 40 snow plows, while a partial call out has 20.

But the city has a criteria on where the snowplows go.

Reichert said they will go to the major roads first like Academy and Nevada, then they go to secondary streets like Carefree Circle.

The streets division doesn’t do snow plows by request anymore due to budget concerns, but they will go to a residential area if the area has more than six inches of snow.

They base their priority by how much snow an area accumulates and accessibility.
