Buffie McFadyen misses third commissioner meeting

Pueblo County Commissioner “Buffie” McFadyen missed her third meeting Monday morning.

The reason for last week absence – reports that she was on vacation. But KRDO found out county commissioners don’t get vacation days. Pueblo Clerk and Recorder, Gilbert Ortiz says County Commissioner is a salaried job.

KRDO Newschannel13 got a copy of the oath that McFadyen signed in January when she was sworn in. The oath states, “I will faithfully discharge the duties of office of Pueblo County Commissioner, to the best of my ability so help me God.” However, it doesn’t have specifics on the required number of work hours.

Pueblo County Commissioners make more than $87,000 a year. Those salaries are set by state legislature.

Besides a recall, there are no consequences of missing commissioner meetings.

Last January McFadyen was questioned and released by a Pueblo County Deputy, even though he says he believed she was drunk.

On Monday the El Paso County District Attorney’s office told us they still have to review McFadyen’s case, at the request of the Pueblo District Attorney, to see if any charges will be filled.
