Redwine honored in Monument ceremony

It’s a bittersweet weekend for the family of Dylan Redwine as goodbye ceremonies honor the 13-year-old.

About one year ago, Redwine disappeared. He was found dead this summer near the spot in Bayfield he was reported missing.

Redwine had just moved to Monument with his mother. He was visiting his father when he disappeared.

On Saturday, the Tri-Lakes community gathered for a goodbye vigil at Limbach Park, where over the past year friends have gathered to pray and remember his time at Lewis-Palmer Middle School.

The small group of about 12 wrote farewell messages to Dylan on rocks that will be sent to his family. They also released balloons in the teen’s memory.

Friends of the Redwine family said his loss has been hard on the family.

“I don’t understand how such a bad thing could happen to good people,” said Kelsey Lammers, who worked with Dylan’s stepsister. “They’re really great people, a wonderful family.”

Some at the ceremony know of friends who drove to Bayfield for another remembrance ceremony Saturday morning.

According to the Dylan Redwine Facebook page, the investigation into his death is still active.
