Man killed in Colorado Springs shooting identified

Colorado Spring Police have identified the victim of a shooting in the city’s southeast side.

The El Paso County Coroners Office ruled 22-year-old Carlos Espinoza died of a gunshot wound.

This is the 28th homicide for Colorado Springs this year.

Colorado Springs Police said officers went to the area of Byron Drive and Murray Boulevard around 8:40 p.m. Thursday (11/7/13). When they arrived, they found Espinoza in the street with a gunshot wound.

Espinoza was taken to a local hospital, but later died from his injuries.

Murray Boulevard was closed overnight in both directions from Pikes Peak Avenue to Airport Road while police investigated the shooting. The road reopened just before 7:00 Friday morning.
