Former Bronco collapses on national TV

Houston coach Gary Kubiak collapsed leaving the field at halftime of the Texans’ game Sunday night against Indianapolis and was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Kubiak hunched over and dropped to his knees at the 24 yard line and was immediately surrounded by medical personnel. He was lifted off the field on a stretcher and taken by cart to the ambulance.

NBC reported on its game broadcast that defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said Kubiak was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.

The Texans led the Colts 21-3, with Case Keenum throwing three touchdown passes to Andre Johnson.

Kubiak spent most of his playing days as John Elway’s backup in Denver. He got his first head coaching job after spending time on the Broncos sideline as a coach.
