Pilot of small plane that crashed identified

A 32-year-old woman who crashed a single-engine plane in Castle Rock near a residential area has been identified and she remains in serious condition.

KUSA-TV reports that the pilot was identified Wednesday as Helen Cernik. She was the only one aboard the home-built plane that crashed Monday night into a gully after striking power lines.

Cernik was conscious after the crash when emergency responders arrived.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident to determine the cause. The plane left from Hayden and was going to Centennial Airport.
