Woman pepper sprayed, monkey stolen

A Missouri woman was pepper sprayed and her pet monkey stolen after a transaction at a Grand Junction hotel went wrong Monday morning.

The woman met a man in the parking lot of the La Quinta Inn on Crossroads Blvd. as part of a previous agreement to sell her black cap Capuchin monkey.

When she met the man in the parking lot, he allegedly sprayed her in the face with pepper spray, grabbed the pet carrier, and took off on foot.

The suspect’s whereabouts are unknown.

The victim described the man as middle-eastern, between 35 and 40 years old. He is about 5’5″ tall and thin, with a short beard. The man was said to be wearing glasses, a blue shirt, and possibly a vest.
