New warrant issued for sex offender who escaped from police

The Pueblo Police Department has issued a $100,000 warrant for a man who escaped from Denver police headquarters on October 9.

Eugene Martinez, 48, is wanted for failure to register as a sex offender in the steel city. It’s the same charge Martinez was arrested for in Denver when he escaped.

After the escape, Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson explained Martinez was chained to a bench at Denver police headquarters, but managed to slip out of his handcuffs and get away.

Martinez stands approximately 5’05” and weighs approximately 120 lbs. He has a tattoo on his chest of a guitar with wings and the name “Diane”. He also has a scar on his forehead.

Police say Martinez has contacts in Pueblo as well as Denver, and that if you see him, you should call 9-1-1 right away.
