Former Lt. Gov. Rogers remembered at Capitol

The body of former Colorado Lt. Gov. Joe Rogers will lie in state at the Capitol Tuesday.

A procession will arrive at the state Capitol at 11:30 a.m. and Rogers’ body will lie in state there until 5 p.m.

Rogers died last week at age 49. He was sworn in as Colorado’s lieutenant governor in 1999 and served until 2002. He was the youngest American elected as a state lieutenant governor and Colorado’s second African American lieutenant governor.

Rogers also was the last man independently nominated as Colorado’s lieutenant governor.
