Berthoud Police Department under investigation

The Berthoud Town Board is holding a special meeting after the Berthoud Police Department was taken over by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office while unspecified allegations are investigated.

The emergency meeting is being held Tuesday after Chief Glenn Johnson and an unspecified number of police officers were placed on administrative leave.

Loveland police spokesman Justin Chase says Loveland police officers executed a search warrant of Johnson’s office Oct. 3.

Berthoud Town Administrator Mike Hart would not elaborate on alleged wrongdoing.

Berthoud is a town of roughly 5,300 people that straddles the boundaries of southern Larimer County and Weld County.
