Relief replaces worry at Fort Carson

Fort Carson is going to be different for 250 soldiers that returned from their deployment in Kuwait.

Families and friends were holding signs and anxiously waiting for the return of their loved ones.

In the middle of the celebrations and reunions there was worry.

11 days ago the government shutdown started and for some soldiers there is going to be some changes in their daily routine.

“A lot of our amenities, the gym, things like that, just my way of life is going to change,” Specialist Albert Bayon said.

The people who were waiting for their loved ones weren’t worried those overseas, but for the ones who stayed.

“My kids go to the day care, so I was definitely worried about the part of how that would affect us,” Alicia Avaledo said.

But with the soldiers back home, the shutdown is the last thing on their minds.

“Were going out to get some ice cream,” Sgt. Roberto Avaledo said.

This is the second wave of soldiers returning from deployment in Kuwait.
