Littleton police officer facing drug charge quits

A Littleton police officer accused of buying $1,300 worth of the drug Ecstasy from a confidential informant has resigned his position.

City spokeswoman Kelli Narde told The Denver Post on Friday that Jeffrey Allan Johnston, a 22-year veteran of the department, quit Monday following his arrest in July.

Narde says no other officers were involved in the drug bust, and Littleton is not investigating the matter.

Johnston is accused of holding parties at his Parker home, where investigators say they found cocaine, steroids, hundreds of prescription pills, guns and cash.

He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 28 and is expected to plead guilty to two charges: prohibited person in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute. Several other charges were dropped
