Commerce City officer acquitted in dog shooting
A police officer who shot and killed a captured dog in suburban Denver has been found not guilty.
A jury acquitted Commerce City officer Robert Price of aggravated cruelty to animals on Wednesday in Brighton.
Price shot the 3-year-old pit bull mix named Chloe as she was being restrained with a catch pole noose by an animal control officer last November. Chloe had also been shocked with a stun gun.
Police said Price was unable to find the person responsible for Chloe and that the she remained agitated and uncontrolled.
The shooting was captured on a video taken by a neighbor, which became an important piece of evidence in the case.
