Possible deal in killing of Colo. school girl
There could be a plea deal for a teen charged with kidnapping and killing a 10-year-old girl on her way to school in suburban Denver.
A hearing to discuss a possible plea deal for Austin Sigg is scheduled Tuesday afternoon in Golden.
It comes two days before the 18-year-old is set to stand trial and nearly a year after Jessica Ridgeway’s disappearance set the community on edge. Investigators searched for over two weeks for Jessica’s abductor before Sigg turned himself in.
Detectives say he confessed to killing Jessica, but denied sexually assaulting her.
If convicted, he would face life in prison but could be paroled after 40 years. Sigg can’t get the death penalty because he was 17 at the time of the slaying.
