Expect big booms near Fort Carson this week

People who live near Fort Carson can expect to hear big booms this week thanks to a training exercise happening on post.

Fort Carson says the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, is conducting a gunnery exercise in the Fort Carson training area from Monday, September 30 through Thursday, October 3.

The Mountain Post says increased dust and noise levels from this exercise can be expected, due to large caliber training and live munitions with heavy vehicle traffic throughout the training area. Field training includes day and night live-fire exercises that incorporate artillery, attack helicopter gunships, Bradley fighting vehicles and Abrams tanks.
