Colo. National Guard soldier killed in Afghanistan

A member of the Colorado Army National Guard has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Guard said Tuesday that 32-year-old Staff Sgt. Liam Jules Nevins of Denver was among three soldiers who died Sept. 21 from wounds they suffered when their unit was attacked while conducting range training.

Also killed were 30-year-old Staff Sgt. Timothy R. McGill, 30, of Ramsey, N.J., and 23-year-old Spc. Joshua J. Strickland, 23, of Woodstock, Ga.

All were assigned to Special Forces units.

The Guard says Nevins was on his fourth combat deployment.
