Six Pueblo bridges will be repaired next year

While flash floods crippled dozens of bridges in northeastern Colorado, normal wear-and-tear has put six of Pueblo’s bridges on the bad list.

They are the north and southbound bridges at Indiana Avenue and Interstate 25. The bridges at Northern, Mesa and Santa Fe avenues and Interstate 25, as well as the bridge on Sante Fe Avenue over the Arkansas River.

Fortunately, the Colorado Department of Transportation is planning to make repairs on the bridges next year. According to KRDO partners at the Pueblo Chieftain, the work will cost between $8 million and $12 million and will be paid with Funding Advancement for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery, or FASTER funds.

FASTER funds are collected when drivers pay their various state license plate registration fees.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports the repairs include widening and putting in or repairing decks and support pieces.
