Water restored to Manitou, boil order remains in place

Water service has been restored to Manitou Springs after a water main break cut off most of the towns supply.

The break was reported early on the morning of Thursday (9/19/13) and was repaired that afternoon.

In a news release, city officials said recent flooding contributed to the break.

The city says everyone should have water again, but more testing needs to be done to make sure the water isn’t contaminated.

A boil order will remain in place for all of Manitou Springs until at least 11 a.m. Friday. Residents are encouraged to boil tap water for three minutes before consuming it until further notice. You should allow the water to cool off after boiling it before you try to drink it.

Boiled or bottled water should also be used for making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food.
