Horses found dehydrated, emaciated in Pueblo County

Animal cruelty charges have been filed after authorities say 11 horses were found emaciated and dehydrated on a property in Pueblo County.

Pueblo Animal Services says Lynn Gore’s horses are recovering after they were seized Aug. 28.

Joe Stafford, director of animal law enforcement, says he has seen an increase in neglect due to the rising hay prices and a decrease in demand for horses, but “even our officers were shocked at how thin these particular horses were.”

The Pueblo Chieftain reports Gore faces 11 counts of animal cruelty.
