Court receives sanity report on theater shooter

A report on a mental health evaluation that will play a key role in the trial of theater shooting suspect James Holmes has been filed with the court.

Court records released Monday indicate that the court received the 128-page report on Friday. Results of the report prepared by the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo have been suppressed and won’t be made public.

Holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the July 20, 2012, shooting that killed 12 people and injured 70 others.

Holmes was ordered to undergo a “sanity examination” when a judge accepted his not guilty by reason of insanity plea on June 4.
