Busy intersection reopens following fiery crash

A car erupted into flames moments after a crash at Highway 115 and Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard Wednesday (9/4/13). The crash was reported at 3:40 p.m.

Numerous KRDO NewsChannel 13 viewers sent in videos and photos showing the car exploding into flames.

Colorado Springs Police say one car rear-ended the other, and that the car that was rear-ended had oxygen canisters in the trunk.

The car that was rear-ended caught fire, and the oxygen canisters fueled the flames and explosions.

Police say the man who was driving the car that was hit suffered a spinal fracture. He has not been identified.

Police say the man who hit him was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. He has been identified by police as Joshua Morgan.

Two police cruisers and a fire truck were damaged during one of the explosions. No first responders were injured.
