Motorcyclist dies in crash

A motorcyclist is dead after crashing into the back of a pickup truck.

It happened around 9:15 p.m. Thursday night just outside the Colorado Springs Airport on Powers Boulevard and Milton Proby Parkway.

Colorado Springs Police say the motorcyclist was heading west on Milton Proby when a pickup truck was trying to turn left onto powers. The motorcycle driver went through the light and crashed into the back of the truck.

Officers tell us it’s a dangerous intersection that’s all too familiar for police.

“It’s one of our top 100 intersections that we have a lot of problems with. We just do the best we can. We try to put police officers out here as much as possible to watch the intersection. We do have lights that’s controlling it. They were trying to investigate it to see if anybody disobeyed one of those lights,” said Lieutenant Mike Lux, Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police say there was a man driving the pickup truck. Lieutenant Lux did not know who was driving the motorcycle.
