Colorado toll roads cracking down on scofflaws
The free ride is over for people who refuse to pay tolls on Interstate-25 and E-470 east of Denver.
The owners of 279 vehicles are receiving letters notifying them that their ability to renew their vehicle registration with the Division of Motor Vehicles has been blocked until they pay tolls, fees and civil penalties. The deadline is in October.
Each of the owners contacted had previously received a letter in early July notifying them that they are liable for at least $200 in unpaid tolls as established in an administrative hearing officer’s final order.
At the time the crackdown was announced in June, there were more than 2,000 vehicles responsible for more than $1 million in tolls, fees and civil penalties.
