Wiener dog blamed for wreck
All dogs are excited to go to the dog park but Gio, a dachshund, tried to get there a little sooner.
91-year-old Vic Vickers says Gio jumped onto his right foot that was still on the accelerator, shooting his SUV forward, through a fence and right towards the Bear Creek Dog Park.
“I knew I was going to go in where all the other animals were so I made that run which headed me towards the creek,” Vickers said. “I was thinking I would surely be able to get it stopped before going that far, but I couldn’t.”
Vickers with Gio still on his foot drove straight down a steep embankment into Bear Creek.
“I just thank the lord I’m here because I missed a tree that was 10 inches in diameter, if I had hit it I wouldn’t be here,” Vickers said.
Vickers suffered scratches on his arm; he says Gio didn’t get hurt. And despite wrecking his car, Vickers says there are no hard feelings with his best friend.
“It’s not his fault; he didn’t know what he was doing. After he got on my foot, I didn’t know what I was doing,” Vickers said.
