Jan Brooks, Libertarian candidate for the State Senate District 11 recall election, failed to collect enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot.
Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler says that of the 834 signatures submitted by Brooks, only 408 were valid. 575 valid signatures were needed for Brooks to get on the ballot.

The ruling means that voters will only have one other candidate to choose from when the special election is held on September 10. Bernie Herpin is a Republican and former Colorado Springs city councilman. Current District 11 Senator John Morse, a Democrat, is facing recall for his support of Colorado’s new gun control laws.
