Man falls from hotel window in Black Hawk

Authorities say a 29-year-old man attending a bachelor’s party died after he fell backward through an open window at a hotel in Black Hawk west of Denver.

Black Hawk Police Chief Stephen Cole tells The Denver Post that Dirk A. Anderson of Thornton was sitting on a window sill on the 11th floor of the Lady Luck Hotel when he leaned backward and fell through a window screen to the top level of a seventh-floor parking garage just before 5 a.m. Saturday.

Anderson was among six people in the groom’s room when he sat on the ledge.

Cole says people at the party were drinking alcohol, but it is unclear how much, if any, Anderson had consumed. It’s also unclear what relationship Anderson had to the groom.
