Police say you can help them catch possible kidnappers

Police say when it comes to catching a possible kidnapper, their best tool is the public.

There have been at least three kidnapping attempts in southern Colorado this month. No one’s been caught.

Police said getting tips from people either through direct calls or Crime Stoppers helps in the investigation. The most helpful detail is a license plate number.

“A license plate number’s going to help us track down a car and location and the individual who owns it, so that will help us out a lot more,” said Pueblo Police Department Sgt. Eric Gonzales.

Pikes Peak Area Crime Stoppers President Kevin Holt said any tip helps, from an individual’s race, height and clothing to the streets where the incident took place and what time of day it took place. He said it’s important to report incidents to police immediately and also to write down details of the incident so they’re not forgotten later.
