Volunteers for Manitou Springs cleanup asked to check-in Sunday

Volunteers heading to Manitou Springs Sunday have been asked to check-in if they plan on lending a hand on flood clean-up.

Massive flood waters rushed through Fountain Creek Friday night, killing one man near Highway 24.

Businesses benefited from volunteer help Saturday.

Police Chief Joe Ribeiro asked volunteers planning to help on Sunday to check-in at Tajine Alami Moroccan restaurant at 9 a.m. That’s located at the corner of Manitou Avenue and Old Man’s Trail, approximately one block east of City Hall.

Ribeiro said the check-in process will keep the volunteer efforts organized.

He said volunteer efforts will end around 3:30 p.m. to keep people out of flooding danger with storms expected Sunday afternoon.
