Johnstown council OKs plans for giant gun complex

The Johnstown Town Council has approved plans for a gun complex that could be the largest of its kind in the state.

The council on Monday approved plans for the proposed 100,000-square foot Liberty Arms Institute, proposed by USA Liberty Arms of Fort Collins.

Site plans for the facility near Interstate 25 and U.S. 34 include room for 60 shooting lanes in several underground firing ranges, along with a gun store, classroom space and a restaurant.

Some residents raised concerns about traffic, noise and safety, but supporters said the facility would provide a safe place to learn about firearms and how to shoot.
