Entire cluster of mailboxes stolen

What started as a routine traffic stop near interstate 25 and West Fontanero Street led to the discovery of several stolen Social Security cards, drivers licenses and other documents with personal information.

According to the Colorado Springs police, David McKinley, described as a habitual traffic offender, was pulled over for speeding Thursday morning.

The police report indicates that during a search of McKinley’s truck, drug paraphernalia, multiple state ID cards, social security cards, financial statements, and forged documents were found.

U.S postal inspectors were called to the scene after officers recovered a cluster mailbox that had been stolen from the northside of Pueblo.

Colorado Springs Police did not say if McKinley was using the information to steal the identification of others or to sell the information.

Police have not said if the names on the identification cards were false, stolen or from deceased people.

McKinley, who is in custody, faces multiple charges including identity theft.
