Bear pushes on tents in western Colo. campground

Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials say a bear has been visiting a campground in James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park.

The Daily Sentinel reports the bear sightings have prompted officials to temporarily ban visitors from staying in tents at the park’s Island Acres campground.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokesman Mike Porras says a black bear looking for food has been pushing on tents at Island Acres. Campers there are being told to sleep in a hard-sided vehicle like an RV instead.

Wildlife officials have set two traps for the bear. Porras says the campground may close if the bear continues to elude the traps.
