Sandbag filling station open for families in waldo flood danger zone

With heavy rain in the forecast, the city of Colorado Springs has opened a self-help sandbag filling station on Flying W. Ranch Road.

The station is for homeowners who could be impacted by flooding from the Waldo Canyon Fire burn scar.

Sand is available until it is gone on a first-come, first-served basis during daylight hours only.
Residents must bring their own shovels.

The city is also making sandbags available at four of its fire stations. Homeowners can pickup 100 sandbags per address per day.

Station 18: 6830 Hadler View near Flying W Road and Centennial Blvd. Station 9: 622 Garden of the Gods Rd. Station 12: 445 Rockrimmon Blvd. Station 5: 2830 W. Colorado Ave.
