Guilty plea in work-release escape

A 65-year-old Longmont woman who pleaded guilty to escaping from a work-release sentence has been sentenced to jail.

Datha Nation had nearly completed the work-release sentence for a bank robbery in 2011 when she failed to return to jail in January after a day of looking for work. Police say she was later spotted at a bus stop and allegedly told an officer who approached her that she was the twin of the woman pictured in a newspaper article about the escape.

The Longmont Times-Call reports Nation was sentenced Tuesday to two years in jail for a theft conviction stemming from the 2011 robbery because she didn’t complete her original sentence, plus a one-year term for the escape.
